OSU Foundation reaches $500 million of $625 million fundraising goal set for 2011
Issue date: 4/30/09 Section: News
The Campaign for OSU hit a new fundraising landmark yesterday despite the economic recession and prevailing budget cuts, as they have officially raised more than $500 million from Oregon State supporters.
This news proves that The Campaign for OSU's goal to reach $625 million by 2011 is entirely attainable, given that supporters keep donating the way they have been.
The Campaign for OSU was launched in 2007 and has received monetary support from one out of every five OSU graduates, according to News and Communication Services.
Also, more than 30 percent of donors who support the campaign are parents, volunteers or those not directly affiliated with the university.
There have been more than 90 donations of $1 million or more, and there have been more 600 commitments at $100,000 or more.
The campaign has already made achievements - it has allowed for the opening of Kearney Hall and created 28 new faculty positions.
The Campaign for OSU has also covered some scholarships and financial aid promised to students this year, which the Oregon Opportunity Grant could not fulfill.
