Buckland aides OSU
EUGENE - Despite being down 1-0 in the second half to the rival Oregon Ducks, the OSU women's soccer team was able to pull out a 2-1 victory Saturday at Papé Field.
During the fall season, the Ducks and Beavers battled to a scoreless draw in Eugene. This time, Oregon got on the board first as junior Jen Stoltenberg found the back of the net from a tough angle on the right side of the pitch. The ball made its way past the near post and past freshman goalkeeper Colleen Boyd.
Oregon State got the goal back off the foot of junior Red Nixon, who skipped the ball past Oregon's keeper shortly after Stoltenberg's goal.
With the match knotted at 1-1, an Oregon State corner found junior Rachael Axon, who in turn found freshman Chelsea Buckland. With less than 20 seconds remaining in regulation, Buckland scored securing the 2-1 victory for the Beavers.

SEATTLE - The Oregon State men's crew raced three strong races against strong competition as part of the Opening Day Regatta on Montlake Cut in Seattle, Wash. on Saturday.
The Beaver's No. 16 Varsity 8+ crew saw itself in a close race against No. 2 Washington and the Brazilian National team in the Windermere Cup. The Huskies were able to take a small lead in the first 500 meters of the course, with Oregon State and the Brazilian National Team bow-to-bow behind them. As the race went on, the Huskies were able to expand their lead, while the Beavers pushed past the Brazilians just after the 1000-meter mark to take hold of second place. That order held over the second half of the race as the Beavers finished 7.6 seconds ahead of Brazil.
