Rugby All-Stars

Four Oregon State rugby players were invited to play for the Women's U23 Pacific Coast Rugby Football Union Grizzlies. The Grizzlies are an all-star rugby squad representing the West Coast.

They will play against teams from seven other regions and are scheduled to begin playing June 12 in Pittsburgh, Penn.. The matches will give the U.S. National Team coaching staff a chance to evaluate potential future team members.

Tori Campbell, Jackie Lewis, Molly Kneen and Elaine Daggett were the Oregon State players selected for the team. The four women were part of a group of 12 women rugby players from the state of Oregon who tried out for the Grizzlies - only six from the state made the team.

Karz invited to camp

OSU rower Devery Karz has been invited to the U.S. Under-23 Lightweight Women's Sculling Camp at the GMS Rowing Center in Milford, Conn.

The camp selects crews to participate in the 2009 Under-23 World Championships Trials in the lightweight women's double sculls, lightweight women's quadruple sculls and lightweight women's single sculls divisions. The camps will be held at the GMS Rowing Center and the Vesper Boat Club in Philadelphia, Pa.

"I am very excited to have such a great opportunity to represent my team in a different rowing community and to row hard," Karz said.

Karz, a junior from Park City, Utah, has been a key member of OSU's 13th-ranked Varsity 8+ boat throughout the 2009 season.

The 2009 Under-23 World Championships Trials will be held from July 6 to 10 at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J.

Seven softball players honored

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Sophomore catcher/designated player Audrey Roderfeld led all Oregon State softball players by earning All-Pac-10 Second Team honors. The news was announced Wednesday by Pac-10 Commissioner Tom Hansen.

Roderfeld was named to the Pac-10 All-Freshman Team in 2008 and led the Beavers in 2009 with a .313 batting average, 13 home runs and 37 RBI.
