Margot Livesey visits OSU
Tonight, Scottish-born novelist Margot Livesey will visit the OSU campus to read from her most recent work, the award-winning novel "The House on Fortune Street." The event will be held at 7:30 p.m. in The Valley Library first floor Rotunda, and is free and open to the public.
Since the mid-'80s, Livesey has published six novels, each of which has received consistent raves from critics both in the states and abroad.
Livesey's visit to Corvallis is the final event in this year's OSU Visiting Writers Series.
New Courtney victim found
A Portland woman is being described by prosecutors as a "newly discovered" victim of Joel Courtney, the man accused of killing Brooke Wilberger.
The woman testified this week in Benton County Courthouse and said she was attacked by Courtney in 1993, when he used a gun to force her into his car and sexually assaulted her.
At this time the woman was living as a teenage runaway on the streets of Portland.
This testimony will help Judge Locke Williams decide whether or not he will permit "evidence of prior acts" to weigh in when Courtney stands trial.
If convicted for aggravated murder, 42-year-old Courtney could possibly face the death penalty for the death of Brooke Wilberger, who disappeared from a Corvallis apartment complex on May 24, 2004.
