Yeas & Nays celebrity edition!
Issue date: 5/22/09 Section: Forum
Yea to themed Yeas and Nays, keeping us away from our real work.
Nay to "My Name is Earl" being cancelled by NBC. If this show is going, "Parks and Recreation" better be next.
Yea for getting out of prison, like rapper DMX and everyone's favorite animal lover, Michael Vick. Congrats guys! Have fun on parole.
Nay to being a bodyguard as well as a total pansy. Apparently, Britney's "negligence" caused him "personal injury." Because being a bodyguard is not supposed to be dangerous.
Yea to Johnny Depp for being straight-up awesome. He is in talks to start in a biopic of Frank Sinatra, directed by Martin Scorsese.
Nay to Emma Watson - Hermione Granger in the "Harry Potter" movie series - for allegedly being a drama-queen diva on set. Real smart to make the producers of the movie that made you rich and famous mad.
Yea to "Harry Potter" being released on July 17 … exactly 55 days away! Some of us on the editorial board already have our capes made and are memorizing spells to direct at annoying kids at the theater.
Nay to being judged by peers for still being obsessed with "Harry Potter" in college. Don't judge us.
Yea to Blink 182 releasing tour dates! We're already hitting up Pac Sun to stock up on Roxy and Quicksilver shirts and Etnies shoes, just like we did in middle school when our Blink 182 obsession was all-consuming.
Nay to everyone's favorite anti-Semitic actor, Mel Gibson, for getting his girlfriend pregnant. His girlfriend is in her second trimester, but Gibson's divorce from his wife was only finalized in April. Guess he missed the moral lessons from church.
Yea to William Shatner possibly taking a break from Priceline.com commercials. J.J. Abrams, director of the recently-released "Star Trek," mentioned this week that he would be willing to cast the former Captain Kirk in any future sequels.
Nay to "The Hills" star Lauren Conrad for trying to be a role model. Apparently she is leaving "The Hills" and with her soon-to-be free time, will be writing young adult novels, appropriately titled "L.A. Candy." Our future children will never read anything from the hands of Lauren Conrad.
Yea to Chelsea Handler. She swore like a pirate at her talent agents for suggesting Speidi - a.k.a. "Hills" stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, the most obnoxious celebrity couple on the planet - as possible guests on her show "Chelsea Lately." Thank you, Chelsea.
Nay to "Zoolander 2" actually being a released as a movie. Ben Stiller is staring and will be a teacher at a modeling school. We wish we were kidding.
Yea to PerezHilton.com helping us feel better about ourselves.
