Texas Christian's starting lineup is full of strong bats, but is led by senior first baseman Matt Vern. With a .369 average and a team-high 15 home runs, the Lake Jackson, Texas, native is also a threat on the base paths with 16 stolen bases on the year.
Leading TCU with doubles is redshirt senior third baseman Matt Carpenter. His 21 doubles have come along with his .339 average, good for second on the team. With 21 doubles of his own and a team-high 49 RBI, senior right fielder Chris Ellington is third on the Horned Frogs with a .330 average.
Texas Christian sports four other regular starters who are hitting .300 or better: junior designated hitter Matt Curry (.326), freshman left fielder Jason Coats (.320), freshman shortstop Taylor Featherston (.317) and senior second baseman Corey Steglich (.315).
On the hill, TCU has a very strong bullpen. The top arms in the Horned Frogs' pen belong to senior and sophomore relievers Taylor Cragin and Trent Appleby, respectively. Cragin has appeared in 16 games and is 5-0 with a 2.68 ERA. Appleby, from McKinney, Texas, sports a 3.05 ERA and 4-1 record in 23 appearances.

The Horned Frogs are strongest when their pitching staff is on top of its game, holding a record of 29-4 when holding opponents under five runs. TCU will look for a strong showing from its offense as well. The Horned Frogs hit 61 home runs on the season while only giving up 30. Texas Christian thrives in games where it scores more than six runs, sporting a 29-5 record in such situations.
The Horned Frogs will meet Wright State on Friday in the second game of the Fort Worth Regional. TCU and the Raiders are scheduled to take to Lupton Stadium for a 5 p.m. start.
