Greenlander

Q: Who are your members?

A: Wilson Parks (vocals/guitar), Thomas Heritage (bass), Merlin Showalter (drums/percussion) and Trevor Helt (Lead guitar)

Q: How did the band get its name?

A: Naming a band is like naming child, which we don't know much about, but we know it's hard. We had some good ideas like 3 Teen Safari and Oinkin Boinkins 57, but in the end we decided to go with Greenlander, which was a song that Pavement (one of our influences) had written.

Q: What are your influences?

A: Funk and jazz! Bands that have directly influenced us include Dream Theater, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pavement, Weezer and many more...

Q: How long have you and your band mates been performing together?

A: We have been playing together for about five years since our high school days.

Q: Do you have a pre-show ritual?

A: Make sure everybody shows up on time with the correct instrument. We tend to procrastinate.

Q: What are you doing to prep for this upcoming performance opening for Battle of the Bands?

A: We've rehearsed and attempted to write a new song. We're also trying to stay healthy and prevent any of the members from getting sick, since we're currently caught in a potential pandemic. Every day we take our Daily Vitamins (men's edition) and drink at least two cups of green tea, which rids our body of free radicals and toxins.

Q: What is the most memorable moment you have had as a band?

A: Last summer we had the opportunity to open for The Marshall Tucker Band and play in front of an audience of 5,000. It was by the far the most fun show we have performed in.

Q: What is your favorite original song you have written?

A: Every member of the band would have a different answer, which could possibly lead to an argument, and in consequence a tragic/violent break up. However if you go to our myspace page (www.myspace.com/greenlandermusic) you will see that our most played songs are "Eugene" and "Where'd the Music Go." We can all agree that we love to perform those two particular songs.
