Oregon State (37-19) had an early 4-0 lead but saw it dwindle away as the Horned Frogs fought back to tie the game with one run in the third and three runs in the fifth inning before heading into the ninth inning tied 4-4.
The Beavers had a chance in the top of the ninth when John Wallace singled to center field with one out. Wallace advanced to second on a Joey Wong grounder to first base for the second out. John Tommasini came to bat having driven in four runs in the previous three games of the Fort Worth Regional, but struck out looking to end the Beavers' chances in the ninth.
Oregon State closer Kevin Rhoderick pitched a 1-2-3 eighth inning before moving into the ninth, where he struck out the first batter. He then gave up a base hit by Bryan Holaday, who advanced to second on a wild pitch. After a walk, TCU freshman Jason Coats hit a walk-off single to left field scoring Holaday from second and ending the Beavers' postseason hopes. Rhoderick received the loss, falling to 3-3 on the season.
Texas Christian closer Eric Marshall pitched the ninth inning and received the win, moving to 2-2 on the season.
The Beavers struck early with one run in the top of the first. Adalberto Santos tripled to center field with one out in the top of the first to get into scoring position. The hot-hitting Koa Kahalehoe drove in Santos on a ground out to the second baseman. Santos ended the game 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
Oregon State added three more in the top of the third inning. Santos singled up the middle with one out in the inning to get things started. Kahalehoe then moved Santos up to second base on a ground-out to the first baseman. After Ryan Ortiz walked, Jared Norris singled up the middle to load the bases for Stefen Romero. Romero then drove a 2-2 pitch to right field for a bases-clearing 3 RBI double to give the Beavers a 4-0 lead. Romero ended the game 1-for-4 with 3 RBI.
