> Start your search for things to do at OSU's Web site for the summer term, http://summer.oregonstate.edu. There are suggestions for more to do there than could fit on this list, and it's only a start.

> Join the Craft Center. That is, if you have thirty dollars on you for membership and wouldn't have to revert to hunting and gathering for food without them. Classes in photography, ceramics, glass, fine arts and more are available. If this is how you like to pass the time, it could be worth the cost.

> Be creative for free. There has to be a way to put dead mosquitoes and soda cans to aesthetically pleasing use. Alternately, fold a fan out of one of your spring syllabi that you aren't using for food.

> Read. The Valley Library's regular summer hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. If you're an early bird and have ever had classes get in the way of learning something you wanted to know, a library the size of ours is the place to fix that, and summer is the time.

> Find out what that unfamiliar building near the edge of campus is (Hint: it's probably a barn, even if it's between a bookstore and a coffee shop downtown).

> The Dixon Recreation Center's summer hours are from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Monday to Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the weekend. Even if your mind doesn't make it through the summer, you can still keep your body in shape.

> Try a change of scenery. Walk all the way across campus to use a bathroom.

> From July 17 to 19, you can attend Da Vinci Days, a celebrated festival of art and science with events both on and off campus. Looks like someone knows we're here! If you assumed Corvallis would be abandoned until fall term and want to know more, the Web site is at http://www.davinci-days.org.

> Look on the bright side - when fall term starts, you will be immune to the smell of cows. You will be a master at riding your bike between one bike lane and the next. When you talk to sheep, sheep will talk back.

> You may want to sit down for this one. Take some classes. It's not as bad as it sounds. Classes during OSU's summer session are faster-paced than those during other terms. In fact, some courses have a reputation for being better during the summer. Ask around and find out which. They won't swallow all of your time, since some classes are only a few weeks long when they would otherwise take a semester to complete.

> Take the Greyhound bus to Portland and hope to have the will to return.

#12, play underwater hockey on Wednesday nights at Osborn Aquatic Center. All are welcome, just know how to swim. City pool admission is cheap, and it's a great sport. (Continued…)
