The Oregon State volleyball program is pleased to announced its 2009 schedule, including a tournament in legendary Gill Coliseum and nine home Pac-10 matches, announced Tuesday by head coach Taras Liskevych.
After the annual Orange and Black Scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 22 at 12:00 p.m. in legendary Gill Coliseum, the Beavers kick off the 2009 campaign on the road at the ASICS Classic, hosted by Colorado State. The field includes two 2008 NCAA Tournament teams in the host Rams and Pepperdine Waves. Adding to the mix is Cal Poly, who the Beavers will face in their season opener.
Oregon State returns home to host its annual Corvallis Invitational, squaring off against Seattle, Wisconsin and Cal State Fullerton on Sept. 6-7.
The team heads to Las Vegas, and Ann Arbor, Mich., to wrap up non-conference play before hosting the Washington schools to open conference action.
Oregon State begins conference action on Sept. 25 and 27 with Washington State and Washington.
On Oct. 2, OSU will play host to the first volleyball Civil War matchup as the Oregon Ducks come to Gill Coliseum. The Beavers are scheduled go to Eugene on Oct. 30 for a Civil War game that is scheduled to air on FSN.
As always, the Beavers face a tough schedule with 10 2008 NCAA Tournament opponents over the course of their 30 matches. These include six Pac-10 schools, five of which advanced to the Sweet 16 round or further last season.
