Give thanks for sports

It's Thanksgiving week, my second favorite holiday for two reasons: one, we get to miss half a week of school and two, you can eat as much as you like and not feel guilty about it. And since it is Thanksgiving week, I find it fittingly appropriate to give thanks and honor the big sporting events and its contributors of this year, whether they're good or bad, moving or devastating. So here we go.
Give thanks to OSU basketball head coach Craig Robinson for taking a shot on a struggling program and leading our Beavers to a postseason championship.
Give thanks to New Mexico soccer player Elizabeth Lambert, who wrote the definition of dirty play against opponent BYU this year. With a punch in the back, a kick to the stomach, three trips, a kick to the head, a punch to the face and a hair-pulling take down, Lambert gave away her shot at ever having a boyfriend, making herself the scariest woman in cleats.
Give thanks to Tom Watson and Brett Favre for showing us that age really doesn't matter.
Give thanks to the Steelers and Cardinals for giving us one heck of a Super Bowl performance.
Give thanks to Kobe Bryant, who showed us what it's like to be a true NBA Hall of Famer. Love him or hate him, you can't deny that he has changed the game for the better, and yes, he's the only player you can compare to Michael Jordan. As sports fans, we should feel lucky to be able to witness Bryant's era.
Give thanks to the New York Yankees for putting on a season-long home run derby. Sure they practically bought their world championship, but in this day, sometimes you have to spend a lot to gain a lot.
Give thanks to Tiger Woods. Well, he didn't win a major this year, so I'll just thank him for being married to Swedish model Elin Nordegren (sorry, that one's for the guys).
Give thanks to Lebron James because no one will ever be able to dunk like he can. What a show.
Give thanks to LaGarrett Blount for giving the world a reason why we as Beaver fans despise the Ducks.
